An incumbent Webb alderwoman has her eyes on a higher prize, becoming one of the latest three candidates to qualify for municipal posts in this year’s elections.
Ward 5 Alderwoman Denise Calhoun, 36, of 153 Pecan Ave., has qualified as a Democrat for Webb mayor. She is completing her first term on the town board.
Last week, incumbent Webb Mayor Tracy T. Mims qualified to seek a second term.
Two people have qualified within the past week in Tutwiler, both as Democrats.
Incumbent Ward 3 Alderman James Farmer, 52, of 103 Central St., Tutwiler, is seeking another term.
Linda Watson Lee, 63, of 107 West St., Tutwiler, also qualified to seek Farmer’s Ward 3 position on the town board.
The qualifying deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, March 3. Primary election day is May 2. The general election is June 6.
