SENATOBIA — Tickets went on sale Jan. 14 for the Northwest Mississippi Community College Foundation’s premier fundraising event, the “Northwest Soiree: A Garden Gala,” presented by Mini Systems. This event is set to take place at the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts on April 18.
The headliner for the event is pop singer Dave Barnes, who will perform after the awards ceremony.
Barnes has been a singer-songwriter since his years in Mississippi where he grew an attachment to hip-hop, soul, blues and R&B. After years of being a fan of music, while at Middle Tennessee State University he began writing songs for other artists.
One of his most popular tunes, “God Gave Me You,” became a smash hit on Blake Shelton’s “Red River Blue” album. Barnes has over 100 songs recorded by a variety of artists including Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire, Dan + Shay, Carrie Underwood, Needtobreathe, Billy Currington and many more.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dave Barnes and his band to Northwest for our Garden Gala,” said Patti Gordon, executive director of Institutional Advancement.
“His Mississippi roots, incredible talent and meaningful lyrics make him the perfect headliner for an evening that celebrates the college’s vision of transforming students’ lives, enriching our communities, and striving for excellence in our educational programs and services. Every ticket purchased helps open doors for our students and strengthens the legacy of Northwest,” Gordon added.
There are two ticket pricing options that feature a performance by Dave Barnes. The premium ticket includes a social hour and awards ceremony starting at 6 p.m., for which formal attire is requested. There also is the standard ticket for the performance only, starting at 8:30 p.m.
