Thank you, Jesus, for protecting us from the bad storms through the day and night on Saturday. It was hard to believe all the damage that it did around our little community and we woke up to a beautiful sunshiny day Sunday.
Bull Bottom Farms will be brought back to life. So many depend on this place for their children, and grown-ups do, too. They are going to need a lot of help rebuilding and I’m sure they will welcome your help.
Cossar State Park will have their Easter egg hunt April 12. There will be a Easter basket raffle for $2 a chance, and they will also have baskets to be given away as prizes. There will be hot dogs, chips and drinks!
Conner Dukes will celebrate his birthday March 29.
Joanna Pullen and Haven Rose Dukes spent the day with their great-grandmother, Diane Dukes, Friday. They were out for spring break.
Milton Harper is doing good, says wife Sadie. He had a checkup with Dr. DiPaolo Monday. “I hope she recommends home health therapy and he can come home from Charleston and be more comfortable,” said Sadie. I told Sadie that when you get our age, no bed feels as good as your own.
David and I visited Roy McCain at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford Thursday after my doctor’s visit. We also got to visit with Joan McCain and their son. Cliff. Joan and Roy are from Drew.
My up-the-road neighbor, Deborah McCool, said nothing was going on with them this past week and is going to try to take a couple of vacation days before too much longer.
Rowland Hartley killed a turkey last Saturday and Monday during a Youth Hunt. Rowland, now we all know where we can eat Thanksgiving dinner!
Martha Box is still down, with her foot up mostly. “Piddling a few minutes from wheelchair, then foot up. Making great progress. Should get OK to stand on it at checkup April 3,” Martha said.
Martha said her family is still taking care of her. Sister Joyce took her to lunch last Wednesday, then Martha rode her wheelchair all over Wall’s. “I wore myself out turning those wheels that much. Brother Jesse and I went to Holcomb to Newton’s Chop Shop. Got another wheelchair workout, also got quite a few bargain items,” she noted.
“I did have to throw my granddaughters, Rissa and Lilly, into the floor in the hall as the tornado threatened and hail hit us. They went to sleep while I rode my wheelchair all about to keep them safe,” Martha added.
Martha said Candy Box came by the other night and visited her momma. “Sure was great talking. Sweet baby girl Ginger came by visiting Saturday night. My Josh came by bringing me some good food from Diane Nail Hill. I tell you they do feed me well. Mostly I am tied down crocheting!” I’m trying to crochet some myself, Martha, but my eyes won’t let me do much at a time. I may have to give it up all together.

Thought for the day: Whoever ate my fries while I was sliding down the slide at McDonald’s ... Not funny. Grow up!
