Tillatoba Baptist Church announces an exciting Vacation Bible School is scheduled! Get ready for an unforgettable summer adventure! Tillatoba Baptist Church is hosting a fun-filled VBS July 6-8 from 6 p.m until 8:30 p.m. daily. Family night will be July 9 at 6 p.m. The theme is “Magnified — Studying the Bigness of God in the Smallest of Things.”
Boy howdy, we got a gully washer Sunday morning about 10 o’clock!
Darlene Moorman had a quiet and relaxing Sunday with her son, Keith Beck, and grandson, Tristen Beck. Darlene said they got her the prettiest flower you have ever seen, a begonia. She said they did not eat anything, just visited and talked about the flower. You know this flower is actually called “Begonia Double Red.” Diane did bring Elisa by there to say hello Friday, as she had to bring some paperwork to the place she got her car from. It is a beautiful red Jeep.
Sheryn Goode’s visitors last Wednesday were daughter Sonja Mercer, granddaughter Alli Hamilton, and great-grandson Baylor, who came down for the day. He was a typical 2-year-old and nothing went uninvestigated, Sheryn reported. She was “give out” just from watching him. They said he slept all the way back to Memphis. I know you enjoyed their visit, especially little Baylor’s.
Martha Box is up and about on her cane to physical therapy twice a week and doing exercise daily at home. Toes are wiggling to the beat a lot better but the heel ain’t ready for the Bop yet, she said. Martha said she could not climb enough to experience Josh’s graduation, but she did manage to walk in and experience Marnie’s — a special, happy experience! It was followed by a wonderful meal with superb service at Magnolia’s. She enjoyed celebrating with most of her family.
Martha said some silly respiratory virus hit pretty hard Saturday and kept her from church Sunday. So, she missed out on homecoming with loving family and friends. She is still blessed and will always keep on keeping on. That is, until Jesus says, “Come on home!”
Kathy Dukes’ children gave her a Mother’s Day celebration on Sunday, the 18th, so everyone could come. All of her family were there to honor their mother. Holly, Waylon Jr. and Haven Rose Dukes visited Sam, Anna, Jo and Andy Pullen and visited with Nancy Chambers while there.
Lila Myrick went to Oxford last Thursday to visit Mrs. Zell Manzo at Baptist Hospital. Jordanna Twilley, her granddaughter, was there with Zell.
Sadie Harper is all smiles over her new great-great-grandson, Eastlyn. He was born May 12 weighing 8 pounds and was 20 inches long. That makes three great-greats for her and gives Sheila O’Bryant, her daughter, three greats. You are way past me, Sadie.
After the Mother’s Day church service, Deborah McCool had Jude Young, John Luke and Logan Rose help her pass out gifts for the mothers. “I have been doing the Mother’s Day gifts since my mom died,” Debbie explained. She gets her daughters, Angela Dukes and Kimberly Beavers, to make something special for them. After church, they went to Kimberly and Jason’s and ate pizza and BBQ wings for lunch so no one had to cook. Then they went and picked up sister-in-law Alice Kellum for a trip to Greenville. She took a couple days off from work to spend the night and visit with his sisters down there. This weekend was easy and she didn’t really do anything after Tommy got off work Saturday afternoon.
“We are still celebrating over here on this side of Tillatoba,” says Ginger Harrison. “We attended Marnie Box’s graduation on Friday night and had a great supper at Magnolia Smokehouse with most of our whole crew. Today, Jake led the music at Pine Grove and sang the special, A Closer Walk with Thee. He did a great job!”
On May 21, George Payne Cossar State Park will have bingo from 2 to 4 p.m. If you are interested, come to the park and join in on the fun!
Happy birthday to my first grandson, Junior Dukes, on the 22nd; to Marilyn Barton, who also shares her birthday on the 22nd; to Lisa Chambers and Caleb Franklin on the 23rd; to sweet Mary Hill on the 25th; to Jessie Anna Robinson on the 26th; to Bob Bailey on the 27th; and to Teresa Bailey and Makayla Roach, who celebrate on the 28th. May you all have a great day of celebrating!
