Christian love and sympathy to Wayne and Mary Hill and family of Grenada on the loss of their son, Jim Hill.
Kellie Young reported that they ended up having 42 kids and 31 volunteers at VBS. Great turnout!
Phil and Ginger Harrison had a great time in Jackson Friday night where their son Josh and his band, “The War Hors,” played. They did a great job, said Ginger. Also attending the show were Julia Kerr and Julia’s grandson, Cayden Kerr.
Sadie Harper said she and Milton are doing OK. She attended a wedding Saturday at which daughter Sheila O’Bryant was maid of honor. It was outside and it was hot with a mild wind blowing. Sadie said she witnessed a first for her. After they said their “I do,” they had communion. That’s a good way to start any marriage.
Sadie is going to the doctor Monday and she hopes he puts a shot in her knee. It hurts to walk even with a brace on. I hope he does, too, Sadie and you get some relief.
Debbie McCool texted me and said they are in Greenville, picked up Tommy’s sister, Alice Kellum, as always and came down to see their sisters. They had not been down since May.
Debbie said they spent the day with them and went to eat together, then returned to their hotel to rest. She said they planned to go back to Leland the next day for a while and then head home and back to work Tuesday. They are planning on a cookout Sunday, the 20th, combining the birthdays of Tommy, son-in-law Jason Beavers and our son, Christopher, as well as daughter Kimberly and Jason's 23rd wedding anniversary.
Martha Box is busy exercising her foot, body and soul, she said. She is walking with a smile, and no pain, as her foot is really healing well. She made an ambulatory trip in Walmart, where she did not try to go up and down all the aisles but got needs. She said she tolerated it well. A couple of slow dances with good friends Saturday night proved great exercise, Martha said.
Martha enjoyed a great meal at the Corner Store with brother Jesse. Joyce and I visited our favorite Catfish Hut at Enid Saturday. She said the fish is so good and those spicy hushpuppies will make you slap yo mammy!
Sunday, Martha had a beautiful ride over to Pine Grove Church to worship with Ginger, Phil and the boys. “And what a joy it was to sit between Jake and Josh, two spectacular singers,” she said. “And yes, the Spirit was there. The singing and Bro. Scarborough’s message about The Spirit filled me with the joy and love! I am blessed.” Martha’s little 5-year-old neighbor just visited her Aunt Mott, and then Ginger popped in. Now that's neighborly love.
My sweet sister, Ann Hudson, visited a while Sunday and daughter Donna Garripoli was here also.
Waylon and Holly Dukes took a trip to Biloxi celebrating their anniversary.
Belated happy birthday to Andrew Sosebee, who celebrated on July 7; happy birthday to Jack Henry on the 15th; to Patrick Darby on the 17th; to Dale Dukes on the 18th; to Holly Dukes and Tommy McCool on the 19th; to Patricia Lindley on the 21st; to Brother Mike Ramage on the 23rd; and to Martha Box, Sandra Anderson, Patti Ramage and Ernie Holliday on the 24th. I pray you all have a wonderful time celebrating your special day!
