Tallahatchie County equine and landscape artist Carol Roark will be appearing on this week’s episode of HGTV’s hit home renovation show, Home Town, filmed largely in Laurel, Mississippi.
Roark said she was commissioned by the show’s husband and wife co-stars, Ben and Erin Napier, in the spring of 2023 to create a painting for new homeowners moving to Laurel from Arizona.
The painting “depicts the owner’s view of the Superstition Mountains with their beloved horses giving them a piece of the home they left as an addition to their new home,” Roark explained.
She said the episode, which airs Sunday, March 10, at 7 p.m. central time on HGTV, was filmed last spring, noting she “has had to keep all the details a secret until the week prior to airing.”

“It was really a bit surreal,” Roark noted. “Home Town has used my artwork in the staging of many of the homes on the show over the years, but they use and feature many of our state’s great artists and craftsmen. To have them reach out to me personally was humbling to say the least.”
As for whether her behind-the-scenes glimpses of the production match the public image of the show, Roark said, “Ben, Erin and the whole Home Town crew are just as genuine as they appear on TV. They love not only their town of Laurel, but their whole state of Mississippi. I am so honored to be a part of this with them.”
