TUTWILER — The Tutwiler Clinic has moved into and opened at its new building on Highway 49 across from the park here.
I got there last week just as the staff was finishing moving in and setting up offices in this spacious 7,000-square-foot clinic, built with donors’ insistence that it is better to grow into a space than to have to build on after you outgrow a space.
A quick walk-through will tell you there is a place designed for everything with future plans in mind to bring increased services. There are rooms for eye exams, dental visits and podiatrist visits, and what cannot be scheduled right now is in the works to be offered soon.
There will be an official dedication Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. where you will get to hug the necks of some old friends who worked tirelessly to bring a clinic to Tutwiler in the beginning. Dr. Anne Brooks’ health will not allow her to physically attend, but she will be present in the hearts of the community.
