Tallahatchie Early Learning Alliance (TELA) has been proud to partner with Raising Highly Capable Kids (RHCK), an evidence-based multi-lingual parenting program developed to build stronger families.
With programs offered in English, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese, RHCK empowers parents with the confidence, tools and skills they need to raise healthy, caring and responsible children.
Over the past nine months, TELA has organized two cohorts of parents, grandparents, aunts and community members into the programs, held at Eva Covington Head Start Center (from August to December 2023) and at the West Tallahatchie Head Start Center (from February to May 2024).
To date, 21 members of the community have earned their Raising Highly Capable Kids Rezilient Kidz Certificate of Completion.
Over 13 lessons, participants were provided manuals and teaching documents, completed exercises and learned from each other as they shared stories about their lives and parenting experiences. Friendships, relationships and mutual respect were created during these classes.
Tallahatchie County community members provided free child care and meals for each class. Building stronger families and a stronger community starts with everyone and TELA is very appreciative of their hours of volunteering and thoughtfulness.
