The Tallahatchie County Democratic Executive Committee is seeking individuals interested in serving as poll workers/managers during the Aug. 8 primary election.
Poll workers and managers must be registered voters of Tallahatchie County, should be 18 years of age or older, must attend and complete paid training and receive certification prior to Election Day, according to a statement from the local DEC.
They will be responsible for making sure the election runs smoothly by safeguarding all election materials, ensuring that only qualified voters are allowed to vote, that all ballots are cast in secret and completing voting requirements at the end of the election, among other detailed responsibilities.
High school students 16 years of age at the time of the election may also be permitted to serve as poll manager interns, it was noted.
“For persons who have worked the polls in prior elections, we thank you, we appreciate you and we look forward to your service again this year,” the DEC said.
