HOLCOMB — Wanda Gale Lindley Livingston, 65, of Holcomb, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 26, from her home.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 28, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. Stanley Turner and her husband, Rev. Larry Livingston, officiating. Her children delivered personal eulogies. Interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery at Oxberry.
Wanda was born August 31, 1960, in Grenada to Gerald Dean "Buddy" Lindley and Betty Louise Byars Lindley. She began her working life at Pennaco Hosiery in Grenada, but it was as a Teacher's Assistant with the Grenada County School District that she found her true calling — spending her days nurturing and encouraging countless elementary school children. At home, Wanda poured that same loving care into her family, working tirelessly to turn a house into a warm and welcoming home for those she loved most.
Wanda gave her heart to Jesus Christ at an early age, when she was saved and baptized at Bethel Baptist Church in the Oxberry community of Grenada County. That faith became the foundation of her life. As a devoted pastor's wife, she stood faithfully by her husband's side through years of ministry, serving alongside him in the churches he pastored throughout the area — most recently at Corinth Baptist Church, where she was a member.
Outside of her faith and family, Wanda enjoyed a good day of shopping and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. But her greatest joys were found closer to home — cooking for the ones she loved and cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Wanda will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steadfast faith, and the love she so generously shared with everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Larry Livingston; mother, Louise Lindley of Holcomb; daughter, Lindsey Roberts (Matt) of Olive Branch; sons, Clint Livingston (Elizabeth) of Mt. Juliet, Tenn. and Austin Livingston (Tonya) of Holcomb; brother, Jerry Lindley (Michelle) of Holcomb; and six grandchildren, Ella Livingston, Cooper Livingston, Nolan Roberts, Annistyn Roberts, Maka Livingston and Ivorie Livingston.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Baptist Children’s Village.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Bill Lindley, Jerry Lindley, Danny Livingston, Steve Livingston, Matt Roberts and Richard Roberts.
