West Tallahatchie High School boys’ head coach Bernard Berryhill has been named a 2017 All-Star basketball coach, according to the Mississippi Association of Coaches.
Berryhill will be joined by Michael Seger of East Webster as coaches of the boys’ North All-Star team.
Top athletes from around the state will play in the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center North/South All-Star Basketball Games on Friday, March 24, at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton.
Rosters of both the North and South Mississippi All-Star boys’ and girls’ teams are scheduled to be announced in early January, with players from among all public school classifications eligible to be selected for the games.
The girls’ All-Star match will tip off at 6 p.m. on March 24 while the boys’ contest will get underway at 7:30 p.m.
Admission to the All-Star games will be $10.
During the 2015-16 season, Berryhill, a West Tally alumnus, guided the Choctaws to the program’s most successful campaign ever and earned the first basketball state championship of any team, public or private, in Tallahatchie County history. The Choctaws finished the season with a perfect 34-0 record, becoming the first Mississippi boys’ basketball team in 31 years to run the table for an undefeated mark.
