CHARLESTON — Willie McGarrity Beardain, age 89, of Charleston, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 23, at the Tallahatchie Extended Care Facility in Charleston.
Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Womble Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. led by Mr. Randy Boran.
Interment will follow at Magnolia Gardens in Paynes. Womble Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Born on February 9, 1936, in Charleston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joe Ben McGarrity and Irma Scallions.
Willie was a devoted member of the Community Church of God in Charleston. She cherished reading the Bible, sharing her faith with others, and embodying a spirit of positivity —always seeking to uplift those around her.
She will be lovingly remembered for her warmth, her joy in family gatherings, and her unwavering faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 35 years, Monroe Keith Beardain Sr.; daughters, Deborah Sanders and Gloria Dempsey; and son, Lester “Laney” Dempsey.
Willie is survived by her three daughters: Glenda Newton (Jim) of Charleston, Charlotte Campbell (David) of Carrollton and Angie Beardain of Grenada; and three sons: Ben Chambers (Debbie) of Batesville, James Sanders (Pat) of Enid, and Monroe Keith Beardain Jr. of Grenada. She also leaves behind two sisters: Mildred Arbuckle of Oxford and Betty Sue Chambers of Tillatoba; along with a large and loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include Joel Bailey, Billy Chambers, Scotty Chambers, Gary Chambers, Samuel Salley, and Kevin Cook.
