Winter Storm Warning in effect from Thursday night until Saturday morning

From the National Weather Service in Memphis, 1:38 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025:

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THURSDAY TO 6 AM CST SATURDAY..

* WHAT...Heavy rain and snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations less than one tenth of an inch.

* WHERE...Calhoun, Chickasaw, Monroe, Tallahatchie, and Yalobusha Counties.

* WHEN...From 6 PM Thursday to 6 AM CST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.
