The West Tallahatchie High School Alumni Class of 1973 has announced Reanna Lakes as the 2026 recipient of their annual West Tallahatchie High School, Class of 1973, Dr. Jessie L. McMullen Memorial Scholarship.
Lakes, a 2026 graduate of WTHS in Webb, was salutatorian of her class and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.72.
She is the daughter of Carlos and Reshondra Lakes of Clarksdale.
Her favorite subject is math. According to her, it comes naturally, she explained, as problem-solving and working through equations has helped her develop patience, focus and critical thinking skills.
Lakes’ organizational memberships includes the National Beta Club, secretary; and Jobs for Mississippi Graduates, photographer.
She was a member of the WTHS cheer team, and the volleyball and track and field teams. She was on the Superintendent’s List all year.
Lakes served as a community volunteer during Thanksgiving in 2025 at the Tutwiler Community Education Center.
She is presently in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree at Philander Smith College, Little Rock, Arkansas. with a major of Biology/Pre-Medicine, with an ultimate goal of becoming an anesthesiologist.

The WTHS Alumni Class of 1973 has a united vision to empower others to achieve, and to aid in providing effective means to promote quality education, empowerment and social justice, and to create opportunities for students in their quest of exemplary future endeavors.
They will continue to award annual scholarships to WTHS graduating seniors through a stringent application process.
