Hamilton finds calling, community through Extension career

Working in a rewarding career is a blessing. For Becky Hamilton, Attala County Extension Agent, that statement is true.
“I started working at the Attala County Extension office as the 4-H Agent in January of 2007,” Hamilton said. In her nearly two decades working for Extension, she has been able to serve countless people in the community.

Area students honored at ADN pinning ceremony

The Grenada Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) pinning ceremony was held May 13 at the Grenada Campus of Holmes Community College in the Corey Forum.
Following the processional of more than 40 students, the ceremony opened with a prayer by Kasey Avent. Patty Jones welcomed guests and introduced the nursing faculty members who worked with the students throughout the program.

Residents of Kosciusko and Attala County have likely passed Steve Deason's sign for God's Corner Gardener. God's Corner Gardener is a garden center and flower shop that serves the area as well as a broader faith-based mission. It provides a variety of event-related services such as flower arrangements, gifts, and tuxedo rentals.
Deason has served the community through God's Corner Gardener for 10 years.

USTA Mississippi tennis program set for Kosciusko youth

USTA Mississippi will offer a Ready to Rally Beginner Tennis Program for boys and girls ages 6 to 12 beginning Tuesday, June 16.
The program will continue each Tuesday through July 21, with sessions scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The beginner program is designed to introduce children to tennis in a fun and encouraging environment while helping them build confidence, learn basic skills and develop an interest in the sport.

Dolos "Val" King passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, Val grew up on a farm with her beloved parents and four brothers. Over the years, many memorable family gatherings took place at the farm, with delicious home-cooked meals, walks in the woods, and storytelling and laughter on the front porch.
