The Dumas Chamber of Commerce welcomed Showtyme Financial Services to 124 N. Main Street with a ribbon cutting ceremony December 19. Showtyme Financial Services offers tax services with other locations in McGehee and Pine Bluff, AR.

Showtyme Financial Services celebrated the opening of their Dumas office with a ribbon cutting December 19, 2025. Showtyme Financial Services offers tax services with other locations in McGehee and Pine Bluff, AR. The Dumas office is located at 124 N. Main Street Suite B. Their hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 7 pm, Saturday 9 am to 3 pm and Saturday by appointment.

NAVY BEAN SOUP 1 lb navy beans End of 1 ham 2 quarts water 1 onion, chopped 4 carrots, chopped 4 ribs celery, chopped Bunch of parsley, chopped 3 tbls butter 1/4 cup flour Soak beans overnight in 2 quarts of water; drain. Slowly cook beans (in water) with ham until tender. Saute vegetables in butter, add flour and stir. Remove ham and cut into pieces, return to beans. Add vegetable mixture to beans and cook for 30 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.

City of Dumas Updates Policy on Limb and Tree Pickup

The City of Dumas will no longer pick up limbs and trees for free that have been cut by the homeowner or hired contractor and placed on the curb for free. The resident or homeowner is responsible for the disposal of limbs and trees placed on their curb. If the City of Dumas Sanitation Department or Street Department receive a request to pick up the limbs and trees cut by a homeowner or contractor, there will be a minimum charge of $500.00 to be paid at the City of Dumas before the trees and limbs will be picked up. Thank you for your cooperation.

As revelers prepare to bid adieu to 2025 and welcome in 2026, Charleston Police Chief Kirby Griffin reminds city residents that their New Year’s festivities should not include the use of guns. For some people, discharging a shotgun or other firearm into the air at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve is simply part of a long New Year’s tradition, but Griffin said no allowance is made for celebratory gunfire in the city of Charleston. The chief said the city has a “zero tolerance” policy for discharging a firearm in the city of Charleston for any reason and on any day.
