It’s time for us to begin preparing for our April 2022 Rally for a Cure fundraiser. We are asking the community to please get involved, because cancer is a serious matter.
The Rally this year will consist of a pageant, speakers on different types of cancer, a memorial service, the ever-popular sweet shop, a silent auction, concession stands and vendors.
Board members are currently taking T-shirt orders. You may contact us for your order or donation. Donations may be sent to Rally for a Cure, P.O. Box 971 Charleston, MS 38921, or contact Brenda Willis at 662-752-9267.
We want to thank Kirk Auto Company of Grenada for their donation of a recliner that was raffled off on Jan. 27. The winner was Michele Garcia, circuit clerk of Grenada.
Memorials were sent by Sylvia Hickey in honor of Sarah Williams and Betty Buntin and in memory of Geoffrey Thompson, and by Mullen Farm Supply in memory of Jimmy D. Fly Sr.
To the community, we would like to thank everyone for all you do to help in the fight for a cure for cancer. The bow color February is green and it represents gallbladder/bile duct cancer. We want to wear a green ribbon to simply represent the awareness and solidarity without having to say a word.
According to the American Cancer Society, 4,000 people are diagnosed with gallbladder cancer every year in the United States. As with most types of cancer, survival depends on when the cancer is identified. Gallbladder cancer isn’t often found until it is in advanced stages. Only one in five cases are found in early stages. Symptoms may include yellowish color to the skin and whites of the eyes with severe itching, darkened urine and pale-colored stools.
The gallbladder is basically a small sack located below the liver in your upper abdomen. This part is responsible for storing gall or bile produced by your liver, which is important to break down fat cells and absorb some types of vitamins from foods, also known as biliary colic. So pay close attention to loss of appetite, abdominal pain, nausea, indigestion, etc. Call and make an appointment with your doctor. Cancer never sleeps.
The Lord is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trust in Him with all my heart. (Psalm 28:7)
A prayer for strong faith: O Lord, Father almighty, I pray for help to strengthen our faith in You. I believe, but I don’t always believe in Your power and might. I don’t always believe that in You all things are possible. I don’t always place my trust in You, instead of trying to fix everything on my own. Help my head, my heart and my soul to believe in You and trust in You fully, without a doubt, knowing that in You all things are possible. Lord, strengthen my faith. Amen.
