Warm and pleasant greetings to you. We hope you are enjoying a good week.
During Sunday night’s storm watch and warning, the electric power was off for a few hours in and around our community. Power was restored shortly before midnight.
By this time in June, the gardens are producing or about to “be in full,” yard and lawn work is ongoing, it is time for vacations, workshops and activities, and other events are keeping many busy during the hot days.
Others, like, me are taking “it” day by day and adjusting to the circumstance.
Learning and playing or learning while playing is a thought to act upon. Let’s enjoy the summertime while thinking about building better communities. This is a good time while most families are together.
Most individuals and groups know what to do. However, many times the challenges seem daunting. It takes people who care, it takes faith and it takes work. These challenges can be overcome if we care enough, have faith and do the needed work. We see you, we hear you and read about those of you who make these things happen in our communities. Please know your efforts are much appreciated. You are commended and encouraged, and we pledge our support.
Calendars show summer beginning next weekend, but it feels a lot like summer began some days ago. The flying insects, including mosquitoes, are happily waiting to make their attack with anybody and anything. For sure, they are in full operation! These enemies are waiting to afflict. Keep the insect repellent on hand.
June 14 is Flag Day. This is another time to display the U.S. flag.
All 50 states honor Flag Day, but only in Pennsylvania is it a holiday. It was there in the city of Philadelphia that the Continental Congress adopted the first official American flag. We have the privilege to honor the USA.
Juneteenth Day is Thursday, June 19. The 2025 theme is “From Freedom to Flourishing: The Next Chapter.” This is one holiday many overlook, but it’s important for all to know this holiday commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. Take time to reflect on the struggles for equality and to celebrate the resilience and strength of the Black community. Read and learn more about the history of Juneteenth.
Our fathers here and our fathers who have departed this life shall be remembered on Father’s Day, June 15. You are blessed to honor your father in a loving way. Many like me have the privilege to show love in memory.
We wish all fathers a blessed and wonderful Father’s Day Sunday with children, family and friends.
Enjoy life today. Be blessed.
