Warm and pleasant greetings to all. We hope you are enjoying a great week.
Back on Blue Cane Road again. One more comment to mention about the road project before we near a yield sign.
How did a newly established residential area right off of Blue Cane Road get its road surfaced?
The Blue Cane Road project has been on the county’s books for over 40 years. Our community needs EMT, Postal Service, home health, waste disposal, building and repair service, phone, utilities, social work and many others. At times, the community center opens for voting. Some residents are disappointed that the work would not get further than it did.
Residents are not satisfied with the answer we got as to why our resources were given to other communities, but you can’t unring a bell; it’s done! Our residents know the recipients/families are proud of their homes and the newly surfaced road, and rightfully so. But this isn’t about what the other community got, it’s about equity.
The Blue Cane community’s history with trying to get our roads paved is old. Concerned residents have tried, we are still trying and will continue our efforts for better roads. The younger generation must step in, speak up and stand on the foundation already laid to build it up and shape, form and fashion it in a way that will be useful, meaningful and progressive for all to have a better quality of life.
Blue Cane residents will stay hopeful as always, but the patience we’ve had is at an end.
The next move this community makes about the pavement must move us forward. It will ensure accountability, safety and equity in our community.
Safe traveling and safe driving for all.
Do you store things on top of the dryer and maybe the washer, too? My washer is glass top and I never think about putting anything on top.
The dryer holds the folded clothes, junk and filing mail, and sometimes the detergent rests there. Some things or maybe no things should be stored on top of the dryer or washer. These appliances get enough damage being used for their designed purpose.
I was reading an article that caught my attention. Briefly, here are five things that could damage the clothes dryer.
» Laundry supplies. Detergents, dryer sheets, anything flammable can be dangerous if the dryer overheats. You don’t want to accidentally cause a fire. It is easily preventable.
» Other cleaning products. Multipurpose cleaning sprays and bleach are also fire hazards. Cleaning cloths, paper towels and the like should be kept away from the dryer.
» Clutter, miscellaneous. Coins, paper and tools can fall behind the dryer or into the lint trap, causing blockage. Find a small organizer tray, old food storage container or Mason jar to keep clips, pins, etc.
» Heavy objects. Laundry baskets or even folded clothes can cause vibration during the spin cycle. Install a shelf unit nearby.
» Wet or damp clothes. Placing wet items on dryers can trap moisture, contributing to rust and potentially causing electrical issues over time. Consider using a drying rack. To properly care for your dryer, focus on regular lint trap cleaning, after each use. Periodically deep clean the lint trap and drum for proper ventilation. Avoid overloading the dryer and do not store items on top.
At least once a year (I do), check the outside dryer vent hood for any blockage or lint build-up and clean it as needed. Take care of your clothes washer ... and safe drying!
Every day is a blessing when we enjoy life.
