Warm and pleasant greetings to all. We hope you are enjoying a good week.
Last Tuesday, Blue Cane Little Hubbard Community Center was opened for voting in the runoff election for the District 24 Senate seat. Some people forgot about the runoff, or maybe it was the cold weather.
Regardless, it’s important for all voters to participate in the election process. Voting day should be marked on your calendar as soon as you know.
We congratulate and welcome Justin Pope to Tallahatchie County, which joins three other counties making up Senate District 24.
We’ve had some very cold days and it’s not winter yet! When are you going to wear that beautiful coat, sweater or scarf and gloves you just had to buy? Now is the time.
Perhaps you have finished your most important plans and are now beginning to have in mind what you hope the holidays will be like, for you and others who will be celebrating with you.
When family and friends gather, we want to create a delicious and memorable occasion. Hostesses/hosts like to hear “this dish is simply scrumptious!” It’s not too late to pull it together and bring comfort and joy to your celebration, which is usually around the dining table.
Perhaps you’ve enjoyed the leftover turkey from Thanksgiving and may again enjoy leftover turkey from Christmas. You can always (properly) wrap the leftover turkey and freeze for later.
Somehow, if you don’t use it before freezing for later use, it’s forgotten. Rather than freezing leftover turkey, use it in making some completely different and delicious dishes. Many snacks, salads and main dishes can be created.
Here are some suggestions you may enjoy preparing: Turkey pot pie with homemade crust left from your pie making; turkey and dumplings (which is much healthier than bought); turkey enchiladas, cheesy and saucy; turkey pasta salad, which is a meal itself; turkey gumbo; turkey alfredo pizza, using Alfredo sauce; chopped turkey; mozzarella and Parmesan layer on homemade pizza crust; and much more. You name it: turkey.
Our sincere thoughts, concerns and prayers are for those who are experiencing unexpected health issues and facing some difficult challenges. It is one thing to be for someone but another thing to be with someone, to stand by his or her side in good times of joy. This is our Lord’s name: Immanuel. He is with you right now. And when He left this earth, He did so with these final words: “Lo, I am with you always.” (Matthew 28:20)
Enjoy life today. Be blessed.
