Warm and pleasant greetings to all. We hope you are having a good week and you and your family are doing well.
There have been some challenging times these past several days, and weeks. It was Wednesday, Feb. 4, around 2:45 p.m. when we first saw the lights again. At this writing, several residents are waiting for Wi-Fi and/or TV reconnections. The lights being restored sent shouts of gladness, yet we are remembering and continuing in prayer for others who are yet experiencing the ice storm devastation.
We all have a story to tell or another chapter to add. We just have to start talking (writing) and decide what’s a good ending point.
There was snow on solid foundations, cold, ice and sleet, glittering weeping trees and bushes. There were quiet and dark nights. The sunshiny days were ice glittered and we could hear, and watch many times, trees and limbs breaking to the ground.
Have you seen the acres of snow geese or wild geese? We hope you found joy in the beauty of this nature scene.
While you did (or someone else did) whatever to stay safe and comfortable, it was helping each other. We are so grateful for neighbors who sincerely took care of us. We deem it Godsent and count it a blessing. Others stopped and did what they could do. Our community survived because there were women and men, both, out during the day checking with the residents in and around the neighborhood.
Thanks to Supervisor Marcus Echols, Sheriff Jimmy Fly and volunteers. Our community appreciates each one. We all feel better when life blesses us with resources to make life more comfortable, as this time was more of survivability.
Most likely we don’t have to wonder how someone feels in a certain situation as we may eventually experience it soon enough in our lifetime. We do know who is in control and that’s our hope. People are working, many not so experienced in the kind of work, but helping at risk to get communities back to a sense of normalcy.
Well, lest not get weary as we continue to enjoy life each day. We are halfway through the winter season and spring is not so far away.
Results from the storm will have residents outside at every chance that seems a good time. Whether you are working outside, traveling, shopping, attending appointments or just being out, it may give you some contentment and a better outlook on life. And enjoy the warmth of sunshine.
Feb. 14 through March 14 is a good time to prune rose bushes for our Mississippi zone.
February is Healthy Heart Month and it’s also Black History Month or African American Heritage Month. We will have something to talk about next week.
Enjoy life today.
