Warm and pleasant greetings. We hope you are enjoying the beginning days of March and at the same time getting adjusted to daylight saving time. The warmer weather was the theme last week.
Some days, no heat was needed and it was nice to raise the window and dust the screen as the breeze circulated. The weekend brought rain and it was a “tad” cooler.
Some residents were out and about while others were quietly working outside. Hope you enjoyed some time outside watching the creatures in motion while basking in the warmth, or maybe enjoying another cup of coffee while reading.
Sounds, scents and other signs signal farmers are anxious to make chemical applications and till the soil making ready for planting, and so are the gardeners. Many farmers are ahead with bedding sweet potatoes. We extend our blessing and prayers for all farmers who delight themselves in the gifts of farming and gardening. May the Lord bless the land as you tend each crop, as we know He’s the one who helps them grow. May farmers and gardeners receive wisdom, strength and protection.
Thank you for the gift which farmers and gardeners delight in participating.
Everyone benefits.
Were your water faucets constantly on “drip” during the winter ice storm?
Water bills indicate meters were accurately read and, therefore, balances due reflect an increase.
It’s well into tax season and many may have already filed forms and are patiently waiting for returns. Even if you have your taxes professionally prepared, it’s good to have some knowledge of what is included.
From reading, I saw there are some significant changes for 2025 filings. Itemized or standard deductions are driven by inflation. This year, there’s higher deductions, an increase in state and local taxes, a new senior deduction (taxpayers 65 and older), a child tax credit increase, accounts for children, tips and overtime deduction, crypts reporting and inflation adjustments for income brackets.
What this all means to me is it takes a professional CPA, enrollment agent or tax attorney who can legally file taxes. Happy returns!
Each year we remember some special birthdays and many times learn of a birthday we had not known. We can always remember George and Alice Robinson’s birthdays because they are known to be compassionate about this favored day. Mr. Robinson celebrated his 95th birthday March 2 with his two sons from Cleveland, Ohio. His sons come every year and spend most of the week with them.
March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day. Symbols and folklore are seen near this time in March. Leprechauns, four-leaf clovers, shamrocks and even the horseshoe are all associated with good luck.
You may find time to read some witty Irish blessings and quotes about St. Patrick’s Day. That’s one way to celebrate.
We say, “may the luck of the Irish be with you.” The luck of Irish is used as a positive expression of good fortune, especially around St. Patrick’s, but it’s good to know its origin. It started somewhat ironically in the 19 century American gold rush to imply Irish success was just luck, not skill, though it’s now seen as a cheerful saying linked to Irish heritage.
It now means good fortune — a blessing for extreme good luck.
Enjoy life today.
