Warm and pleasant greetings to you. We hope you are enjoying a good week.
Enjoy your blessings and don’t let distractions draw you away from your spiritual resources such as church, Bible study and prayer.
We hope more young people are taking advantage of the privilege to attend Sunday school and any activity during the summer vacation that will help them have a better outlook on life.
Can you beat the heat? Older people especially can’t take the heat without being aware and cautious. Many older people feel they must save by cutting back on air conditioning and using the fan. The fan only makes you feel cool on your skin but does not remove heat or humidity from the room. Seniors need to be safe and comfortable.
Things were different when we were young and really it was not this hot! It’s a good idea for older people to let someone know your whereabouts during the hot summer days. They may be able to reach you quickly in case of emergency. Everyone wants and needs to stay safe during the hottest days.
School students are enjoying time away from school studies. Summertime is when children look forward to being free to relax and play more. Many are being entertained with electronic devices.
We hope parents are encouraging children to do extra reading, assigning serious chores that they can enjoy and appreciate and learn while doing. Everyone needs to be active in some way. There was a time you couldn’t pay a child to sit still; the child couldn’t sit still to save his life. The outdoor games and activities were times children looked forward to.
We hope all will stay safe while playing, socializing and doing chores.
Are you staying up to speed when you’re at the wheel?
You may still use the 10 and 2 o’clock positions on the steering wheel. But holding it at 9 and 3 instead gives you better leverage and quicker steering response, according to AARP’s Smart Driver course.
These positions also reduce the risk of hand, arm or face injuries if the airbag deploys in a collision. I intentionally aim to set hands at 9 and 3 positions without taking either hand from the wheel.
Drive safely and share the road. You may have noticed bike lanes, often colored green on the right side of the road. These help create space between bikes and cars.
Here’s a quick tip: Save the inside bags from cereal boxes for storing produce. The bags are heavy-duty, so they can be rinsed, dried and reused several times.
Sunday, June 21, is the first day of summer. It’s also Father’s Day. How nice and memorable on this Father’s Day for fathers and sons together to attend Sunday services at church. You are blessed to honor your father.
“The righteous man who walks in His integrity, blessed are his children after him.” (Proverbs 20:7)
May the reflection of God’s love cover you as you lead your family with courage and grace.
Happy Father’s Day!
