The “ber” months are finally here, and you know what that means. Our annual Gateway to the Delta Festival is approaching quickly and will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18. Our Gateway planning team has again been working for months to provide a family- friendly event for the entire community.
All of your favorites are here again, along with a few surprises to provide a day that is packed with great food, lots of arts and crafts and toe-tapping music from the morning into the night.
In 2024, the Gateway team added two new events – a photography contest and an opportunity for a volunteer to Smooch Scissors. Both were a huge hit, and we will have them again this year. Photo entries have already started flowing into CARE and our three volunteers (aka victims) have already been selected to compete for the prestigious honor of kissing that little pig.
Our Kids Zone will be open and filled with even more exciting things to keep those little ones busy for the day. A petting zoo, inflatables, games and a few other surprises await them in this corner of the festival grounds. Tiny Miss Gateway, Little Miss Gateway and Little Mr. Gateway candidates will take to the stage as the festival opens to crown our trio of royalty. Have those cameras ready to snap lots of pictures, because we know that these children are “hams” in front of the camera lens!
We are very excited to share our Gateway to the Delta Festival T-shirt and poster for 2025. Pam Locke has again done an outstanding job of taking lots of ideas and condensing them into a beautiful design that represents Tallahatchie County and CARE.
Multiple opportunities will be provided to purchase the shirts and posters before the Oct. 18 festival.
Each year during the Gateway Festival, CARE takes pride in celebrating and thanking members of the Charleston community who have gone above and beyond to support CARE and volunteer in Tallahatchie County. We will honor our Hometown Hero, Volunteer of the Year and extend the CAREing Heart award. It is always one of our favorite moments of the day, because of this simple “thank you” from CARE and the community.
Whew! And, wait until you see the line-up of musical entertainers this year. Some are new, while some are your returning favorites.

See you at CARE (and at Gateway) in 2025!
