We don’t want to mention that nasty little three letter word any more this month. We are crossing our fingers that spring is definitely in the air! And, with spring comes our Student Art Awards and Exhibit. The goal of this event is to provide young artists from ages 5 to 18 the opportunity to show their art creations and to receive praise from the community for their hard work.
However, the students are not the only ones who beam with pride and excitement during this exhibit and reception. One can tell by the smiles on the faces of moms and dads that they are thrilled with all of their children’s entries, even the pieces that do not leave the event with a prize ribbon. And, if you think moms and dads are proud, take a moment to look on the faces of the many grandparents who are in attendance, and the numerous pictures that they snap on their phones of these wonderful pieces of art.
Our Student Art Awards are open to all children in Tallahatchie County within the age group previously mentioned. Art should not be framed and may be submitted on canvas, sketch paper or other forms of media paper. Submissions may be dropped off at the CARE building until 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, in order for judging to occur on Monday, March 2.
Awards will be presented on Friday, March 6, during our reception which will begin at 5:30 in the CARE Gallery. Family and friends of all students who enter their artwork are invited to attend this event.
Call CARE for more information or to schedule a time to drop off/pick up art entries.
We are excited to see what our student artists create! See you (and your young ones) at CARE in 2026!
