Charleston Athletics enjoyed another competitive week across several sports from Sept. 15-19.
On Tuesday, Charleston’s seventh-grade, eighth-grade and junior varsity football teams traveled to Senatobia. The seventh- and eighth-grade teams competed hard and gave strong efforts but were unable to come away with victories. The junior varsity game was a defensive battle, with neither team allowing a score as the contest ended in a 0-0 tie.
Also on Tuesday, the Charleston Lady Tigers volleyball team traveled to J.Z. George for an important division matchup. The Lady Tigers played extremely well and brought home a key division victory.
The volleyball team returned to action Wednesday with another road contest at Northside High School. The Lady Tigers competed hard but came up short.
On Friday night, the Charleston Tigers traveled across the county for their rivalry game against West Tallahatchie High School. The Tigers delivered a strong performance and earned an impressive 34-16 victory.
The Lady Tigers volleyball team completed the week Saturday morning at a tournament in Water Valley, where they faced Water Valley High School and Potts Camp High School. Although the Lady Tigers did not come away with a victory, they played hard, competed throughout both matches, and gained valuable experience.
Overall, it was another week of growth for Charleston Athletics. Every team competed hard, continued improving, and represented Charleston with pride. We look forward to another strong showing this week.
