Charleston Mayor Sedrick Smith Sr. proclaimed Saturday's April 19 community cleanup day in the city “very successful.”
He, other elected municipal officials, city workers and other volunteers participated in the annual event, picking up litter and other trash from alongside city streets and in other public spaces.
The mayor expressed appreciation to Sam’s Club for providing hot dogs and hamburgers, and to Little’s Express for donating water and ice, to feed and nourish the volunteers.
“I would like to thank everyone for their support and help,” Smith added.
