Bells will ring, buses will roll and young minds will reel when students report Monday for the first day of classes in Charleston schools.
The July 28 start for students in the East Tallahatchie School District is the earliest in recent history.
In 2024, students’ first day in the district was Aug. 1. Not so long ago, students did not report until mid-August.

Students in the West Tallahatchie School District will report for classes on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
All schools in the county will close Sept. 1 for Labor Day.
The next scheduled special time off will be during fall break, which will occur Oct. 6-10 in East Tallahatchie schools and Oct. 20-24 in West Tallahatchie.
