The city of Charleston and Val’s Chateau are sponsoring a communitywide Halloween-themed trunk-or-treat event on Friday, Oct. 30, beginning at 6 p.m.
No end time has been publicized, but if history bears any weight, crowds of trick-or-treaters will come early and the event will wrap up within an hour or so, usually as exhibitors run out of treats.
This sixth annual event, which is held on the Charleston Court Square, is fittingly often referred to as the “Scare on the Square.”
“All are welcome to participate,” noted a promotional flyer.
Anyone may decorate a vehicle trunk and pass out candy and other goodies to children, but those interested in doing so are asked to contact Charleston City Hall at 662-647-5841 to reserve a spot prior to the date of the event.
For more information about this week’s Charleston trunk-or-treat festivities, the public is encouraged to contact Mayor Sedrick Smith at 662-647-5841, Val Bynum at 662-647-7526 or Cassandra Patterson at 662-647-4711.
