Warm and pleasant greetings. We hope you are having a good week.
Spring is in the air, with most individuals feeling inspired and encouraged to enjoy life. The daffodils poked their faces earlier, some with frost, I noticed. The redbirds are showing and new growth is sprouting vegetation with beautiful buds. Spring is on its way, just you wait and see!
I’m always inspired with the household calendars that give a special welcome to the incoming month. One reminded me of the beauty of nature, an African American daily history, health care, and another spiritual directives. I hope you give attention as you turn over a new leaf each month. It helps to embrace awareness. Read your calendar.
March is National Nutrition Month. The 2022 theme is “Create a World of Flavors.” Create a world of flavor embraces global cultures, cuisines, plus showcases the expertise of registered dietetic nutritionists. Nutrition Month started as National Nutrition Week in March 1978 to give information and education to the public while promoting the profession of dietetics. With much interest and support, National Nutrition Month began in March 1980. The month of March is the time when dietitians and health professionals around the country celebrate healthy lifestyles with special events, promotional items, blogs and more.
To embrace Nutrition Month, families can enjoy meals together, sharing a new/different dish or entire meal. Try new recipes, or study and talk about a food from a selected country. We challenge you to try this during spring break with family or friends. It would be educational and fun!
Here’s some tips for this week. Eat a variety of nutritious foods. Include healthy foods from all food groups. Learn how to read nutrition labels. Incorporate your favorite cultural foods and traditions.
It was such a delight to greet some special people from Enid/Oakland whom I had not seen for some time. It made my day!
George Robinson was happy to celebrate his 91st birthday on March 3. Mr. Robinson enjoyed time and dinner at Cracker Barrel with his two sons from Cleveland, Ohio. Belated happy birthday, Mr. Robinson, from the community!
Don’t forget to spring forward Saturday night. We wake up to daylight saving time on Sunday, March 14.
Enjoy life today. Be blessed.
