Good morning. Hope you had a good Sunday!
Warm and pleasant greetings to all. We hope you had a good Mother’s Day and the week is going well for you.
All is well with our community. Sounds of tractors, farm equipment and lawn mowers kept things in motion. Fields plowed, lawns shaped and some vegetation sprouting are signs of good working habits.
Thursday morning, TVA replaced and anchored a couple of utility poles on Blue Cane/Byars Road. Some portions of the community were without electricity for about four-and-a-half hours.
Someone was about to mix a buttermilk pound cake when the power went off! It would have been a disaster had something been mixed and started baking in the oven.
Saturday morning, the water pressure was low and by afternoon water was completely off for less than an hour. Many residents probably didn’t realize the system was off while workers repaired a leak.
Next week, our forever one and only grandchild Ethan will have successfully completed his first year of high school. He had a good year. A few more years and he will be graduating, too.
Congratulations across Tallahatchie County to all graduates at Charleston High School,West Tallahatchie High School and colleges and universities. Best wishes to undergraduates who will move forward.
Commencement addresses are filled with words of wisdom. Hopefully, young women and men will listen and take heed to what is said. This world is real.
“The Lord grants wisdom! His every word is a treasure of knowledge and understanding. For wisdom and truth will enter the very center of your being, filling your life with joy.” (Proverbs 2:6,10)
We say to these students: Through the pandemic, unsettling news and the process of growing older, you have done a wonderful job this year. Your studies and attendance have “paid off” for you. Now, as you go forward, please don’t forget to “pay forward” your achievements by giving back to your community and helping inspire younger ones who are working to achieve what you have just accomplished.
As you enter the next chapter, you will title it, because only you have the option. Don’t be shy. Find your seat at the table, your feet in line to enter where you think or want to belong. Don’t be afraid to speak when it’s necessary and be sure you have something to say. Don’t be too shy to ask an older person, your parents or your friend a question when you need help with an answer.
Look your best and be honest with yourself and others. Take care of yourself by practicing good health and moral habits. You want to grow older and wise.
We are proud of all students and organizational groups who received special awards and recognition for outstanding achievements during the school year.
If there are other students in your home, ask them to read this article. We certainly want students to know we love and care about them. We want them to know they live in a community that is encouraging and rooting them on for their continued success. Our best wishes for good health, and prosperity.
Our good wishes to parents, grandparents and guardians who continue to care, nurture and support the children’s upbringing. Happy trails!
Enjoy life today. Be blessed.
