A very pleasant greeting to all. We hope you are having a good week. It’s been a busy week.
Our hearts and minds have been focused on concerns for families and friends and church and community. Being around others a bit more this week gave the opportunity to refresh our fellowship and greet others not seen in a while.
The First District of Tallahatchie County Association and Auxiliaries met for its annual meeting at Locopolis Missionary Baptist Church, July 24-27. I was pleased to attend two sessions. The association had been dormant since COVID. It is important that the association continue for the history and legacy of future generations.
The 5th Sunday District Missionary Meeting and fellowship services were held at New Town Missionary Baptist Church Sunday, July 30. The gathering was greeted by Moderator Carl Ray, beginning with Sunday school class. Services continued with worship service. Saint Luke Church conducted the youth activity period. The morning message was by vice moderator/New Town Pastor, Preston Coleman.
The next District Missionary Meeting will be held with the Popular Springs Baptist Church Oct. 29 with Saint Mark conducting the youth activity.
Back to School greetings to all, parents, guardians and staff. We hope all enjoyed a good summer and are ready for the start of a new school year. Let’s keep our children encouraged. Our parental influence many times determines the path children take. We want students to be safe and healthy as they learn.
The high temperatures reached even by the weekend. Perhaps you have noticed some TV shows replaying this summer from the winter season. This, perhaps, may give a more comfortable feeling during the warmer days.
It’s your privilege to register and vote. Take the opportunity to cast your vote for the candidate of your choice. Last week’s edition of The Sun-Sentinel featured a 2023 Voter’s Guide. This included precinct information, sample ballots and brief yet detailed info about most candidates. This guide is most helpful and should give you more of the information you wanted to know.
Hopefully, you will exercise your right to vote on Aug. 8. Let your vote count!
Lest we forget those in need for better health, hope, peace and some joy during trying times. Enjoy life today, be blessed.
