What a beautiful day was Thursday last week to end the month of March. The day before, however, Wednesday afternoon, brought rain and wind that became stormy weather. Several families were impacted by this destructive storm. We are so thankful no fatalities were reported.
Residents were watchful and later got news of many trees uprooted and some destruction in nearby communities, including the city of Charleston. Our nearest destruction happened off Highway 32 East. Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church was impacted, and other homes and a mobile home or two were completely destroyed. Electrical power was off for about 30 minutes Wednesday night after the storm had passed.

This week began and continued all week with the power company workers installing wires across the community. Traffic was halted Tuesday on the portion of Blue Cane Road where a new culvert was installed.
Several residents had the lawn mowers going full blast for the first time this spring, trying to get ahead of the next rain day. Grass grows really fast and greener than it once did!

Easter lilies will be one of the most popular flowers for the month of April. This magnificent flower (Iiliumn longflourm) is known as Easter lily because it symbolizes purity, rebirth, new beginning and hope.
Easter lily, with its sheer white petals, symbolizes life, purity, innocence, joy and peace. This beautiful white flower of the lily is connected with the traits well before Jesus Christ. Many ancient allegories connect the flower with motherhood. On the first Easter, white lilies are said to have sprouted in the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus spent the final hours before his arrest and crucifixion.
It is interesting reading so much about the Easter lily and its connection to Christianity.
