Pleasant greetings to all.
We hope you are enjoying this week and keeping reasonably comfortable during these warm days. Meteorologists often give tips for staying safe, so take heed. It’s August, and this means several more weeks of warmer weather.
Our community had a quick rain shower Sunday morning, then back to lots of sunshine the remainder of the day. However, Blue Cane community was without electricity for nearly seven hours. No idea what the problem was, but several residents made calls of concerns. Residents, of course, were happy for the recovery.
Getting focused on back to school time should give you some pleasure and confidence in knowing you are on the right path to a good start. You’re doing a good job.
We are happy our grandson Ethan begins his second year of high school this week, with some excitement.
Usually, birthdays are in mind when I turn the calendar to August. Several family members and close friends celebrate birthdays this month. We send best wishes.
It’s always good and a blessing to have your grown children home to visit. Son Reginald spent July with us. He’s back to Brooklyn now making ready for a real vacation before he gets back to school work in September.
His taste buds came to full blossom and we got a bit off our regular diet. It was all good and well worth it.
Several projects needed attention, and other chores were finished while Reginald was home.
August is Black Business Month, National Immunization Awareness Month and there are many other days and weeks being celebrated to raise awareness and support meaningful causes.
Black Business Month was created in 2020 as a way to recognize and uplift black-owned businesses. From tech startup to family-run restaurants, this observance is an opportunity to show support for businesses that have been histrionically underrepresented in the market place. This is a good time to discover amazing black-owned businesses and help them thrive. (From Black Business Calendar)
National Immunization Awareness Month is recognized in August by FDA to highlight the importance of routine vaccinations for people of all ages.
Vaccines protect us from dangerous preventable diseases like chickenpox, flu, hepatitis, measles, mumps, pneumococcal, pneumonia, shingles, pertussis (whooping cough), polio and more. Vaccines not only help protect us and those we love from getting these diseases, they also help prevent spreading diseases to those that are not vaccinated, states the CDC.
Now your phone is ringing. You don’t recognize the number. Why answer?
You really want to know who it is calling, so if you must answer, never say “yes” to a question of “can you hear me?” or any other statement. Your voice can be recorded and inserted to say “yes” to something you don’t want, or yes to a product or an account the caller may get access to. So watch out for scams and frauds from people calling around and about to see whom they may devour.
Everyone needs prayer and it’s good to know how to pray. Lest we forget those who may be facing difficult challenges and needing strength to face certain circumstances. Some days the news seems heavy, but it’s always the good news of the Gospel. Let us seek to find good news to share among others.
Enjoy life today. Be blessed.
