Warm and pleasant greetings to all. We hope you are enjoying a good week.
The morning rain quietly falling last Tuesday did not deter voters from getting to the polls at Blue Cane Little Hubbard Community Center to vote in the primary election. The rain was good for settling the dusty roads yet making more holes and humps along the roadways.
There was constant traffic most of the day as voters were going and coming into our community. It was good to greet many during this time.
Not just during voting time, but anytime, you are welcome to our community. We’ll greet you again on Aug. 29 for the primary runoff election.
National Pickleball Day was celebrated last week. I know less about this game, but the sport has become quite popular. More individuals are trying the game for many reasons. The game can be played indoors or outdoors, single or double. It’s a low-impact game that appeals to a wide range of people, from children to senior citizens.
“Pickleball is a racket or paddle sport where 2 or 4 players hit a perforated, hollow plastic ball with paddles over a 34” high net until one side is unable to return the ball or commits an infraction.” (Wikipedia)
Pickleball was created in 1965 by three neighbors who came up with the concept using old ping pong paddles and a perforated ball on a badminton court as a game to keep their kids busy on a rainy day.
Pickleball offers a fun, low-pressure environment where players can interact and connect with each other while getting some exercise.
Since the sport’s growing popularity, you can find all-in-one pickleball starter kits at most sporting good stores and other retail stores, too. I was reading where 70 countries have joined the International Federation of Pickleball and they’re even talking of trying to add it to the 2028 Olympic games as a demonstration sport.
How about that!
We all stand in need of prayer, but many are experiencing health issues, facing difficult decisions, bereavement, financial challenges, etc., that seem rightful to be lifted. Lest we forget, let us pray for those evangelizing, teaching and showing strength in reaching the lost with hope of seeing them saved.
Enjoy life today. Be blessed.
