Warm and pleasant greetings to all. We hope you are experiencing a good week.
You likely have a can of WD-40 around your home and use it now and then to spray a squeaky door. I searched for a can the other day to calm the awful noise heard when I opened the car door. Everyone could hear the sound when the door opened and it was a bit embarrassing, knowing something should/ could be done about it. I gave no attention to the can. I thought it was just one kind of WD-40. A certain party did the favors and started spraying every hinge on the car door, facings and all.
At a later date, I noticed a couple of streaks on my blue jeans and wondered where the chalk came from.
As I was opening the car door, I noticed the white paint and it took several seconds to actually figure out what had happened.
Therefore, I retrieved the WD-40 container and it read white lithium (white metallic) grease. Now, I needed to see what WD-40 was all about, that we had always had around. Someone just saw WD-40 and got it, not knowing it was another type. I researched to find first that WD stands for “Water Displacement.” 40 means it took 40 iterations to get the formula just right. May not know what’s in the formula, but it works.
It’s handy. Note, this product should be kept away from appliances with heat and from coming in contact with food.
Here’s some things WD-40 does: eliminates squeaks, removes slickness (like duct tape, stickers, labels or stepped on gum). WD-40 cleans fingerprints from stainless steel, removes stains, cleans garden tools, removes mildew from metal pipes as a protective coat that can prevent pipes from bursting.
In winter, it can also help pipes to avoid freezing by dispersing any moisture that builds up there. WD-40 will drive away wasps, snails and slugs from coming that way. Use this also for polishing artificial plants, cast iron pieces of outdoor furniture and it will melt away dust and grime from vehicles before washing.
Sounds like a pretty handy can to keep around.
The third Sunday in September, the 17th, is National Back to Church Sunday. This is year 14 since this special day was established in 2009 as church attendance in America was declining. Church leaders began to look for ways to involve their congregation in reaching out and inviting friends, neighbors and co-workers to come back to or try church for the first time. COVID-19 slowed church going to almost a halt.
Back to Church Sunday is set aside for churches across America to invite their community to a Bible-based church, whether for the first time or as a returning member. The church should be as family. What do others think about church? Many have fallen away from church, some have had bad experiences, didn’t feel welcome or may have never been to church. At church, you find hope, redemption, grace, truth and love.
People need Jesus and a caring community where they can belong, grow and flourish. New Town Church is where my family belongs, serves and worships. All are invited and welcome at any time to our church to experience hope and reconnect with others. Will you invite someone to church this Sunday?
Enjoy life today. Be blessed.
