Warm and pleasant greetings to all. We hope you are enjoying the last full week of summer.
Have you had a BLT this summer? The B is for bacon, but B can substitute for beef or beans, making another delicious sandwich.
You may enjoy a BLT sandwich anytime, but I never think about the good- tasting bacon, tomato and lettuce sandwich until tomato season. The delicious ripe tomato straight from the vine is best! I do like a sliver of red onion, too.
Here’s an onion tip. If you want a stronger flavor, cut against the grain (cutting round) as making rings, especially if you are cooking. If you like a milder flavor, cut with the grain, straight up and down. The outer layers are milder, of course.
Perhaps it will be next summer before I think about enjoying another BLT.
I didn’t realize I could reminisce with such passion, as seeing pictures in a magazine of beautiful bouquets of pinkish, reddish zinnias. These flowers always remind me of my mother’s passion for growing (zinnia) flowers. I’ve told the story before.
She never missed sowing seeds in the spring, waiting and watching for a green spring giving signs of sprouting. Her face would bloom with happiness. For many reasons this year, I didn’t plant or transplant zinnias and I do miss the exercise and experience of growing these flowers. I love making these beautiful bouquets every summer and fall.
Spring is coming again, and I’ll be waiting to start a new bed of these pretty zinnias once more!
Are you enjoying your Sunday school classes? It’s our Christian duty to invite others to learn biblical principles and make them applicable to everyday life. Think about how much better you feel, look and act when you participate. You can be a better person. Really, Sunday school makes you a better person.
The good news of revival services in and around our communities are being well received. I was quite impressed with several calls hearing how inspired and revived each one was after experiencing services. That’s good news, being revived again!
“A biblical aspect for revival means making alive again those who have been alive but have fallen into what is called a cold or dead state. Christians have a life that needs reviving to bring them back to their first love, and the healthy growth of spiritual life to which conversion was meant to be.” (Murray Commentary)
Enjoy life today. Be blessed.
