Warm and pleasant greetings to all. We hope you are enjoying a good week. October is really here!
October has its own beauty, with vibrant colors of the different tree leaves that everyone admires.
Autumn is beautiful.
Many activities and events are planned, even locally, to participate in and enjoy throughout the month.
Thinking about what to wear? It’s sweater time! I love seeing the beautiful sweaters this time of year when you can sport with confidence and style. Why wait to cover my sweater with a winter coat? No better time to wear pretty sweaters, vests and lone sleeve blouses and shirts!
It’s time to bring forth the Christmas cactus (Myrtle) and place the plant in a dark space.
I got my plants inside now and am hoping the dark environment will give the plants a “show off” for the holidays. The last of September or early October is a good time to place the plant inside and keep the plant covered under a box or bag for at least 12 hours a day. It will take 6 to 8 weeks to bloom. Once buds begin to form, darkness is no longer required, but I do wait to see some full blossoms!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is the opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of finding breast cancer early.
Pink is the color for Breast cancer awareness. So, pink will be flashing all around as a reminder to support the cause as we honor and remember individuals and families touched by this disease.
If you have personal concerns or want to contact the American Cancer Society, the number is 1-800-227-2345. All calls are confidential.
Also, remember that our local ACS chapter Rally for a Cure President Brenda Walton Willis (662-752-9267) and board members are advocates and may be able to help.
Polly Foxx is again holding the “Breast Cancer Awareness” celebration on Saturday, Oct. 5. This is the 15th year she has spearheaded the annual day.
She hopes to bring about awareness among her peers and community about the importance of knowing about breast cancer and the importance of annual checkups and support of others.
Enjoy life. Be blessed.
