Warm and pleasant greetings. We hope you are enjoying a good week.
It’s April and energy is in the air. Energy is always felt the first few days of April; for some reason it’s automatic. Maybe it’s because the people I have been in contact with this week, including our daughter and grandson who spent a few days with us, were all uplifting and inspiring, as most times. Maybe as I grow older the uplifting and inspiration grows with me. It’s something I hope I’m sharing, too.
By the way, I thought the “cool spell” had passed and was gone, but it was a bit cool a couple of days last week.
Enjoy your week and don’t become so distracted that you miss blessings intended just for you.
Not much news as such, as we know in the community. The road grader makes its rounds and the garbage truck runs once a week and, of, course the mail carrier and school bus keep the norm. Little traffic with the voters at the polls last Tuesday.
It’s always exciting to see the farmers and managers getting started for planting. A lot of equipment looks new and different. Whether we realize it or take it for granted, crop farmers and managers have the task of getting all stages of plant growth, planting, fertilizing, watering and harvesting crops. These crops have to be packaged and stored. Farmers are important to us. Most farmers and managers love what they do, I assume. Farming can be stressful and dangerous.
Anytime one is using tools, equipment and chemicals, it’s time for safety. As drivers, we must be cautious on the roadways as some equipment is needed on the highways to get to the soil surface.
Perhaps that’s all on the operator’s mind, so watch for unexpected turns! Our prayers, respect and support as we salute farmers at the beginning of a new season!
Some individuals will be busy getting ready for the American Cancer Society’s Rally for a Cure “Sweet Shop” Saturday, April 13. Board members have been busy preparing, collecting, soliciting and delivering in preparation for the Rally.
Your support is needed and much appreciated.
Monday, April 15, is “tax day,” a day we’ve always known. Tax day was first introduced in 1913 when the 13th Amendment was ratified.
Therefore, it’s always been tax day in our lifetime. Perhaps it is on personal calendars, not on all standard calendars, for several reasons. It’s not a holiday. Just remember, if you forget or miss the deadline, the standard penalty is 5% of any tax due for every month the return is late up to 25% of the unpaid balance. Happy tax day!

We express our sincere condolences to the family and church family, friends and loved ones in memory of Ms. Essie Jones, a member of Saint Paul CME Church. Essie enjoyed time with the United Voices of Hope singing group.
Enjoy life today.
