What a blessed weekend! I got to babysit (spoil) my grandson, Nolan, Saturday night and before that I was invited by my granddaughter, Emily, to a program at her school that was for grandparents! To top it off, Sherry Joe’s had an OK weekend. The Lord blesses us even when we don’t deserve it.
Since Easter, I have been busy cleaning out my flower beds and getting my yard back in shape. I love working in the yard. If the sun is out and you drive by my house, you’ll see me working in the yard. It’s the best therapy for me. I tried a small garden for two years in a row and the dirt here just is not up to par to grow good tomatoes or things like that.
We have a lot of red clay dirt and my flowers love it, but veggies don’t. I have a container that I plan on planting a few tomato plants in to see how that will work. I use a lot of tomatoes in Sherry Joe’s and I would much rather have homegrown ones instead of bought ones.
I guess my little community is getting along OK. I haven’t heard of anything going on out here in some time, but they say “no news is good news” and I tend to agree.
We did have a Swap Meet, per se, on the first Saturday of the month. We didn’t get rich, but what we didn’t make in money, we made up for in comradery and I really enjoyed it. Sherry Joe’s will be hosting this event on the first Saturday of every month. If you have anything that you would like to sell, feel free to come on out and set up a table. It doesn’t cost anything to set up and you can sell anything that you want except food. Sherry Joe’s opens at 8 a.m. on that day, so you will have access to a bathroom and food. I’ve been gathering up some things myself to rummage. If you think you might want to participate and want more information, send me a message on Facebook or shoot me a text. My number is 662-625-0343. I can’t guarantee that I will answer a call because of all the robocalls these days.
This week, most of my plans will revolve around getting Daddy’s yard in order and finding me another above-ground pool. A couple of months ago, the pool that we had was flipped over and demolished by some strong winds that came through the area. I don’t have many things that I can’t do without, but I consider my pool being one of those things that I just must have. I know that I really could make it without one, but it sure is nice to relax and float around the pool when these Mississippi summer days wind up.
While I’m searching for a pool, I’m also keeping my eyes open for a riding lawn mower for Daddy’s yard. The one he has looks like it has seen better days. It still bounces around that yard, though, and gets the job done.
I almost forgot! Keith and I helped my daughter, Fallon, celebrate her birthday on April 13 by taking her out to eat at La-Cabana in Grenada. We laughed, ate and had a great time. When I look at my daughter, I still see that little girl that stole my heart the day that she was born. She has a daughter of her own now. Maybe now she will know the love that I have for her because a mother sure can’t explain it. It’s something that you have to experience for yourself.
Let me get motivated and get going. I have a lot that I want to get accomplished today. If any of you are in the Cascilla area, stop by and see me at the old Cascilla Store. We’ll sit around and drink coffee and talk about whatever comes to mind.
Remember, the Lord is coming back, so be ready.
