It seems as if I haven’t talked to y’all in forever! One week I was sick with flu and the next week, I just plum missed the deadline! I used to laugh at my mother because of her failing memory, but I truly understand as I get older.
I’m not going to complain about aging, because the alternative would be death. I tell my daughter, Fallon, all of the time that I really enjoy the age that I am now. I feel more settled and don’t let people or things bother me like I did when I was younger. I’ve realized that God’s is the only opinion that I need to worry about.
The first month of the year has hit my little community hard. We have already lost three members of our family out here. Mrs. Betty (Willard Earl) Smith, Mr. Dean King and Mrs. Jessie Ray Kendall all have gone on to be with the Lord this month. My sincere condolences go out to the families.
When one of our neighbors passes on, the whole community feels the loss. Most of us out here are blood kin, but the few that are not have been out here so long that I wouldn’t know the difference. I guess I’ll be in these hills until God sees fit to take me home. Do remember to pray for these families, though.
I’ve been working on my little restaurant/country store trying to get everything set up to run smoothly. I bought a three-compartment sink and have been having a time getting it put in. It will happen. I’ve had to do a little wiring because I didn’t have enough electrical plugs. I’m not surprised, though. The store was built in 1883 and there was no need for all those plugs. What were they going to plug in? Y’all are going to have to ride out and visit me and look around. It’s good to get out of the house every now and again. I’ll make a pot of coffee and we’ll sit and visit for a spell.
I said that I was going to start sending out birthday wishes at the beginning of the year, so here are my January birthdays. Some have already passed and some are knocking on the door. If you see any of these people, wish them a happy birthday!
Happy, happy birthday to Mrs. Bonita King, Mickey Smith, the Triplets (Larisa Strider, Lisa Harper and Teresa Kendall), Julie Suggs, Greg Franklin, Kristy Hoop, Sherry Sanders, Lisa Sturgis Lane, Heather Smith, Michelle Hollis, Susie Roberts, Joey Allbritton, Millard Hollis, Amanda Kendall, Alyssa Robinson, Linzey Kendall, Hannah Winters, Michelle Prine, Stephanie Coker, Brenda Winters, Yvonne James, Vicky Young Salha, Angie O’Bryant Smallwood, Shane Little, Bobby Wayne Frazier, Michael Sims, Laura Hames, Haley Ross, Barbara Kendall and last, but not least, my Aunt Bobbie Denmark! That should be all of my January birthdays and I pray that you all have/had a good one!
I had an old friend, Sheila Busby, coming Monday morning to visit and I was excited about it. She sells a lot of customized items and we were going to try to make her a website where you can order what she sells online. When we get it up and running, I’ll be sure to give you the details so you can check it out.
Just remember, the Lord is coming back, so be ready!
