Wing B residents reached out with love for their fellow residents by joining in the Valentine cooking decorating so that every resident had a special treat. It was very emotional to all staff as the men jumped in and displayed their artistic talents as they decorated cookies for everyone. It was a day of stepping out of our comfort zone to do for others.
You would have been impressed to watch their concentration and artistic skills. It is my hope that the photos will allow you to share this inspirational afternoon event. The ladies present were just as involved but more in their comfort zone, for sure. The entire group inspired all of us that were helping. Thank you for caring for your fellow residents.
We have been seeing an increase in resident population in the last few weeks. We have several new residents and by the end of the week Wing B will be full. We look forward to getting to know our new residents by learning about their needs, interests, talents, as well as their likes and dislikes.
Everyone who comes into the Extended Care Facility goes through a period of becoming aware of the nursing home environment and which activities and services they need. Our therapy department jumps in immediately to complete assessments to determine therapy programs, assistive devices for safe movement, and a plan to address areas of weakness.
Dietary gets busy making sure they know the residents’ likes and dislikes as the department aligns these with medical and nutritional orders. Social services starts the process of making sure residents are connected with all the appropriate governmental or supplemental programs that each qualifies for as they enter.
Activity personnel begin to visit and help residents become aware of programs, groups and activities that happen every day. Nursing and medical personnel evaluate all medical background history so that all health needs are met.
It is a busy time for families, residents and staff as we develop this essential and vital relationship so that our residents can see this as a comfortable, loving facility to spend their days in. We take this seriously and want to make sure our residents feel that sincerity.
