We want to thank the First Methodist Church for leading our services in March. We love the songs and piano music provided by Christy Finke and Louise Fox. It is so heartwarming and makes us feel like we are at a church. The message brought by Reverend Ray Branch connected us to the first miracle of Jesus. We were held spellbound learning how He handled this first step in His road to saving all of us.
Easter on A Wing took on its own personality around bunny rabbits, Easter eggs and Elvis. What a combination! But the smiles on our residents’ faces will show you the joyful artistic work they completed that helped Elvis not stand alone.
We are so excited about the gift of Elvis provided by Molly Roberson’s mother, Terrie Peters. We intend to utilize him throughout the year, because Elvis was a large part of the youth of our residents at Extended Care Facility. The Activity Department plans to decorate the life-size cardboard cutout appropriately for each holiday.
All of our residents on A and B Wing are blessed at every holiday with treat bags brought to us by Ramona Brewer and the Adams family. They never forget us, and everyone enjoys the goodies they put in the bags. We also were able to fill eggs for residents, as Emily Goff brought candy for us to put inside our colorful eggs so that candy filled the hallways.
This past week we had our first domino game with community men. Richie Stanford and Joe May played Tuesday and it seemed like old times as we talked about those who had played before COVID. We remembered names of those who were experts at the game, and those that we had to teach the game. Each name brought a memory and a smile to the face of William Rodgers, our resident domino lover.
