This week is CNA Week across America, and at Extended Care Facility we would not make it through one whole day without them.
Last week, we celebrated the CNAs (certified nursing assistants) along with nurses, activity and therapy personnel with a wonderful walking tacos and loaded baked potatoes. It was a fun time to gather, and it is always good to be told you are valuable to your work place in any way.
Another group that we could not do without is our IT team made up of Emmitt McKellar, B.J. Russell and Cody Newsom. The list of jobs they handle for us is mammoth — from our television service, nursing stations, call lights, infrastructure and many things I have no knowledge of, except that when I have no idea of how to make a phone, TV or computer terminal function, I call them and they make sure our residents are taken care of immediately. You are the best, guys!
We also can’t mention our team coverage without talking about our maintenance team, who also has a list of duties and unexpected problems daily that never seem to get them down. Their jobs go from replacing closet doors, to remodeling our clinic. Everything you can imagine that comes in between in the rooms of our residents as well as the grounds, ceilings and repairs that are a daily list that never seems to end. We call and they come. You guys really rock!
We couldn’t make a day at ECF without Mildred Dean Gordon, who works tirelessly making sure our residents have all of their personal needs met; without fail. She also connects us to the shipping and re-ceiving of supplies by stocking all areas of ECF. Anyone who knows Mildred can tell you that she knows our every need!
Next week, I will feature other departments so that ECF families and the Charleston community can know and feel secure about the dedicated staff that cares for our senior citizen residents.
