The wind was really bad on Halloween, making it pretty cold. That did not stop nine of our Extended Care Facility residents from braving the cold and wind in order to not disappoint the children in our community.
We were the tail end of the “Trunk or Treat” event and we gave away two complete wash tubs of candy that had been donated by staff and the TGH Auxiliary.
Many costumes went through our line and we all enjoyed watching the delight of all of their faces. Our residents had painted pumpkins that you saw last week and we used these to decorate the front of Tallahatchie General Hospital. It was the first time in four years that we were able to participate and the weather was not going to stop us. CNAs and nurses helped dress the residents warmly and we were successful.
We want to thank everyone who helped us succeed: the maintenance department, CNAs, nurses, activity personnel, staff and the great kids who stopped by to share our candy.
Our COVID outbreak has cleared almost completely with activities resuming on B Wing and masks not being necessary on that wing as well. I wish I could help you understand how much relief this gives our residents and staff. It is a great feeling.
