We have had some very special guests come out to visit our residents here at Tallahatchie General Hospital Extended Care Facility. One of our residents had their niece come out to share their sweet dog, Charlie.
Charlie put on a show of many tricks and treats for our residents! Residents loved the excitement and enjoyed getting to pet on a sweet fur friend. Many got to share their own stories of their pets and it was a fun time to share. We hope to have Charlie come back soon!
Residents have also been enjoying their Tuesday night community bingo with Spring Hill Baptist Church volunteering to come in for the month of August. This is a time for residents to engage with people in the community and it is something they look forward to monthly.
We are always looking for churches and organizations to commit to a month of community bingo, so please reach out if you are interested.
Residents have also been enjoying something we like to call “Penny Auction!” This is a time once a month that residents are given 15 poker chips. During Penny Auction, we have an assortment of different things such as clothes, hats, DVDs, snacks, jewelry and personal care items that residents get to bid on.
They really look forward to this time due to their need of certain items, but also just because it is a fun way for them to “purchase” items.
If you or any organization you are associated with is interested in seeing what you could donate to help us with getting items together for Penny Auction, we would really appreciate it! Please feel free to call 662-625-7013, and I will be happy to discuss things that might be needed for our residents.
As always, we appreciate our wonderful community that surrounds us and the many volunteers who give so much time and generosity to our residents.
We hope to see you all soon!
