As you are reading this, Adrienne Knowles Jenkins, daughter of Olivia and Kristopher Jenkins of Sumner, will be getting back from her class trip to Washington, D.C.
With all the negative political news, it warms my heart that youngsters are able to travel with teachers and parents to see historical landmarks and museums and return with a positive experience.
Adrienne has more to celebrate as she starts seventh grade at Lee Academy next year as a cheerleader. All those tumbling classes and hard work make grandparents Karol and Greg Knowles from Oakland and Sandra and Kabo Jenkins from Sumner look forward to attending some Lee Academy games.
Another star athlete, Sumner softball pro and Honor Roll member Lillie Brooks Flautt, recently returned from lighting up the runway in New York City during a fashion week event where she modeled a variety of fashions from a sleek grown-up look to my favorite, a blue Southern belle gown.
Megan Hausner, a senior at Pillow Academy, was presented at the Cotton Ball looking every bit as beautiful as her grandmother Judi Hausner did when she married grandpa Ray.
Needless to say, the West Side is proud of all our young folks and their bright futures.
