We met at our building in Teasdale for our March meeting to plan what we want the rest of the year to accomplish.
Our goal each year is to help people in need as much as it is possible, to welcome people coming into our area, to show that we continue to bring our community together in welcoming you to join in and help us help others.
We have our Thanksgiving noontime meal and welcome people in our community and others that have shown us they are willing to help in making this a good place to live.
We then throw caution to the wind and have a Christmas banquet that many local people attend, as well as some that are outside.
The Teasdale Quilters make a quilt each year and sell chances on it, and that is given away to the person that has a winning ticket. We then have a speaker that tells about the birth of Jesus and what it means to the world. Actually, this all happens after we have all gone through the line and gotten a lot of good food. We also have a speaker who will give us some things to think about. Then is the time for small gifts, given to those whose number was called. Their number was given to them at the door and our little ones really get involved in this. Then, the name is drawn from chances bought on our quilt and it is given to the winner.
Who is it on TV that goes on and on, talking about something, and then when they catch their breath and say “I digress”?
Our meeting was called to order by President Virginia Murphree and the devotion was presented by Lee Dale Sturgis: A very fitting description of what we need from God to help us grow to be like Him.
It is illustrated by going to “Heaven’s Grocery Store.”
I was walking down life’s highway a long time ago.
One day I saw a sign that read, “Heaven’s Grocery Store.”
As I got a little closer, the door came open wide, and when I came to myself, I was standing there inside.
I saw a host of angels, they were standing everywhere, one handed me a basket and said, “My child, shop with care.”
Everything a Christian needed was in that grocery store. And all you couldn’t carry, you could come back for more.
First, I got some patience, love was in the same row. Further down was understanding, you need that wherever you go.
I got a box or two of wisdom and a bag or two of faith. I just couldn’t miss the Holy Ghost, for He was all over the place.
I stopped to get some strength and courage, to help me run the race. By then my basket was getting full, but then I remembered, I needed some grace,
I didn’t forget salvation, for salvation, that was free. So I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me.
Then I started up to the counter to pay my grocery bill, for I thought I had everything to do my Master’s will.
As I went up the aisle I saw prayer and I just had to put that in, for I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin.
Peace and joy were all plentiful, they were on the last shelf.
Song and praises were hanging near, so I just helped myself.
Then I said to the angel, “Now how much do I owe?” He just smiled and said, “Just take them everywhere you go.”
Again, I smiled at him and said, “How much do I owe?” He smiled again and said “My child, Jesus paid your bill a long time ago.”
You know this is a very good devotion for us now, just before Easter.
Alisha Pittman gave a report on our minutes. Lee Dale gave a report on our spending and our funds in the bank.
Fruit baskets were taken to Joyce Beairdan, Maude Martin and Connie Rowe, and, as always, our prayers for their comfort and wellbeing.
We were blessed with two new members and I am sure you will hear from them soon.
By this time we were ready for our refreshments, which we really enjoyed.
