Can you believe August is almost gone and Thanksgiving is just around the corner?
Christian love and sympathy to the William “Bill” David Robinson family. Bill passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis. A celebration of Bill's life was held on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 5 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville.
Martha Box said, “Friend, it is hot. So hot the hens are laying hard-boiled eggs and the rooster ain’t crowing in the mornings!” Martha got out in the heat Friday for groceries and such needs, and picked up meds for sister Joyce. They enjoyed lunch at the Catfish Hut after church Sunday, where they ran into Al Irwin and that “sweet handsome son of his.”
Martha said they had a beautiful church visit at Willow Springs Assembly of God. “You know I love to visit all my family and friends there,” she said. Singing by the Box girls had Martha’s tears flowing and praises going up. And when they sang with their mom and grandma, “Fervent Prayer,” wow! What a message Bro. Tommy preached on “Jesus is coming soon!” The Spirit was so felt by them all. Martha said it touched her heart to see a sweet little baby at the altar, head down like mommy!
Deborah McCool said Tommy worked all weekend again. Then came home and mowed but took a few minutes to jump in the pool afterward and enjoy it. Deborah just took it slow all weekend but had a good time at church Sunday. One more week until she goes to Jackson for surgery. I know she will be glad when it is done and over with. We all will be praying for you, sweet girl.
My up the road neighbor, Lila Myrick, said she has been staying in out of this heat. Says she tried sitting on her porch one day but the heat ran her back in the house!
Sheila Jackson and granddaughter Mali Jarrell visited Jimmy and Patti Rowland one day last week.
My precious little great-granddaughter, Haven Rose Dukes, visited us a while Sunday morning along with her daddy, Waylon. Haven started K-4 last week and can spell her name already. She loves looking at pictures on my phone, so that’s what we did. Her aunt Donna came while she was here and she got to visit with her.

Thought for the day: The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
