Joey and Katelyn McClanahan and friend Shelby Dewitt visited with his dad, Bobby Joe, and other family members this weekend.
Martha Box said, “What a week!” How many different possibilities would her friends come up with? Martha’s story is “short and painful,” she said, adding that the Superwoman in her has apparently retired. “The can-do, will-do woman has gone into wish I could do mode! No, I don't know how a young woman like me woke up to this!” said Martha.
Martha had a great lunch with sister Joyce and brother Jesse at the Country Store last Wednesday, where she always enjoys the visit as well as the good food .
Sunday was wonderful, Martha noted. She had a lovely drive to Pine Grove Baptist Church, where the “wonderful spiritual singing so lifted me. Grandsons, Josh and Jake Harrison, both sang songs that lifted me high.” Pastor Scarborough followed all those great singers with such a soul-searching message. There is power in those spirit-filled messages. And then, Martha explained, they fed her tummy. “Wow so many great cooks, so much good company.”
Ginger Harrison said it was a great fifth Sunday at Pine Grove. There were several guest singers. Jake and Josh both sang and did very well. All of the singers really did a good job. They all received a sweet message from Brother Scarborough. Of course, the meal afterward was perfect. Ginger said she was so glad Moma could come and spend time with us.
Seems like every time I go to the Charles Retina Institute in Oxford, I see people I know. Thursday was no different. Daughter Donna had driven me over and when I came back to the waiting room from getting my eyes dilated, I thought I saw Margaret Jean Ross and another lady walk in the door. I asked Donna and she didn’t know, so I walked over to them and, sure enough, it was Margaret Jean and her daughter, Carol Ross.
She was telling me how much she enjoyed all of her birthday cards that she had received. Carol is staying through Christmas, I think she said. What would we do without our daughters? I know mine has been there for me every step of the way.
Our visitors this week were daughter Donna and grandson Bradley Holliday of Grenada and Bobby Ray Jackson stopped by for a short visit.

Recipe for the week:
“Crock-Pot Chicken Pot Pie”
1/4 cup chicken broth
2 or 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 bag frozen mixed veggies
1/4 cup sour cream
Salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika
Season your chicken. Add chicken, chicken broth, frozen veggies, cream of chicken to your Crock-Pot and cook on low for 3 or 4 hours.
Make sure the chicken is done, then shred it and put back into the Crock-Pot and mix in the sour cream. Serve this over store-bought or home-cooked biscuits.
Thought for the day: If a situation does not work, then let it be. It is never OK to seek revenge.
